As an artist, I see myself as an explorer, often finding the most fascinating inspirations surprisingly close to home. As a designer, I craft prototypes, some of which eventually evolve into products that I hand-make myself. And when I need a moment away from the visual world, I pick up my guitar and let the music ground me.

Using old books as recycled material is, for me, a symbol of hope. At the same time, I cannot ignore the alternative, more somber fate of these books—ending up in a landfill or as energy waste—which makes their reuse all the more meaningful. Working with old books is challenging, but it also adds a rich, multi-layered depth to the themes of my creations.

Olen monialainen taiteilija ja työskentelen visuaalisten taiteiden, muotoilun ja musiikin parissa. Työni jakautuu näille alueille, mutta usein ne myös kietoutuvat toisiinsa moniaistisiski kokonaisuuksiksi.
Luomisen välineet vaihtelevat kirjoittajan kynästä giljotiiniin ja kitarasta moottorisahaan. Käytän materiaaleina puuta, kierrätys- ja luonnonmateriaaleja, ja viimeaikaisissa projekteissani visuaalinen ja auditiivinen maailma ovat sulautuneet yhteen itse suunnittelemieni soittimien kautta.
Taiteeni on luonteeltaan orgaanisesti etenevää – jatkuvaa uusien ideoiden ja konseptien kehittämistä sekä vuoropuhelua luonnon- ja kierrätysmateriaalien kanssa.

Katri O Music
Katri O is a one-woman band. The songs are built layer by layer via a looping pedal, with the guitar acting as bass, rhythm and accompaniment, and the sung melodies turning into a chorus. Everything happens organically live and the result is a unique work created in the moment.
The musical style is by turns obscure and energetic, singer-songwriter music from Hyvinkää, tinged with northern exoticism.
